Imagine if scientists and researchers never wrote down any of their findings. They’d go back to attempt the previously unsuccessful experiment only to start from scratch and fail (again). They would never have seen the error in their ways and who’s to know where we’d be today. Systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are a necessity in today’s business climate. Here’s the thing, we’re not talking about bulky training manuals and doc. files tucked away where no one will ever read them again.

Typically, business owners wonder when the customer experience starts. We believe that a better question to ask is “where does it end”? After the sale has closed, does your customer fumble clumsily through a mountain of paperwork and admin before getting started? Part of the intake process involves something that, if we’re being honest, none of us really like all that much but is crucial for securing long-lasting, profitable and transparent relationships. We’re talking about the paperwork, of course. Specifically, the contracts and agreements.

Tell us if this sounds familiar. You send a contract to a client’s email. After about four days, they open it, skim through it and file it away in their inbox. You send them three additional emails asking if they’ve seen the contract yet and have “had a chance to review it”. You, of course, offer them to chance to “ask any questions they may have.”

They don’t. In fact, they never even write back. Instead, they send you three unrelated emails about when you’ll be getting started.

If they do read it and have questions, the chances of them actually printing it off, signing it, scanning it back to their computer and emailing it back to you are slim. Before long, and at the risk of losing your new client, you proceed with the work with no contract or agreement at all between the two of you.

Well, we’re putting an end to this by setting up your own automated system for sending and receiving signatures that connects right to your CRM. Simply put, client onboarding is when your client finally agrees to “go steady” with you and you take them on several dates, getting to know each other.
